On Hiatus with a Praying Mantis

On hiatus with a praying mantis,

Lured by the Light, hands pressed in front of us,

A meal we seek: may mine be Glorified,

With snap and pop his falls electrified;

God’s creation, nothing superfluous.

  1. Peter, the praying mantis, patrols our front porch. This year swarms of mosquitos have assaulted our front door, driving us to plug in an insect zapper and providing a fertile pile of insect corpses for Peter to forage through. Written in an AABBA limerick, 10 syllables per line.
